Character evolution was minimal and change in POV was not always clear. The story seemed incomplete, with too many loose ends and unanswered questions. For example, Jonathan's injury, as described, should accept been substantial, but was about forgotten, utilized but as a vehicle for declaring his feelings. Additionally, smoke Inhalation can exercise serious impairment, but though they were coughing up black ash, they seemed to recover without whatsoever medical intervention. And who goes running into a fire?!? It merely wasn't conceivable. I'one thousand non saying I won't be reading any more than from Emily Murdoch, simply I hope I savour her other books more than I enjoyed this one.

This is a romance novella which is part of the First Street Church Kindle World. This story takes identify in 1840 Sweet Grove, TX - no First Street Church building notwithstanding, but there'southward a huge apple orchard recently bought past Elizabeth who falls in love with its former owner, Jonathan. A quick read which introduces a few characters, merely seemed to proceed things on a rather superficial level.

Love'southward Journeying is a wonderfully sweet and an intriguing bookkeeping of new beginnings, founding love in the Sweet Grove community; following a loss. An enjoyable, Christian historical novella, and a fabulous story to start a new serial; which can be read as a standalone story. A gripping story that spiked my involvement from the first chapter and held information technology to the concluding word, I was so involved by the story that I was wanting more when the book concluded; I am looking forward to reading the stories to find out more about the rest of Sweetness Grove.
Ms. Emily Murdoch has created a stiff plot with lovable, wonderful and conceivable characters with a residuum of the chemistry between the characters and the challenges facing them. How they run across & autumn in love, and the HEA; with a affect of humor thrown in for good measure. The leading lady, 1840, she is a potent heroine, that is hardworking, independent and assuming; yet sensible, loving and compassionate modern woman; preferring to rely on only herself. But, at the same fourth dimension the theme in this story teaches us about of priorities, and where our priorities should be; people rather than land or possessions, and how nosotros should swallow our pride and have help that is offered.
Ms. Emily Murdoch writing enchants her readers with a superb story-line, drawing her reads in to the story with hope and anticipation for what will happen next. A adept, clean read; that fabricated me grin and sigh the whole fashion through. Ms. Murdoch knows how to write about strong characters, mystery and a sweet and gentle romance; a perfect blend in a book. I received this book for gratuitous in render of my review, although one was non required, and all views expressed are my ain and I am giving this book a 5-star rating.

Dear's Journey is a great introduction to Sugariness Grove. When Elizabeth Morris buys the orchards on a bit of a whim - she simply falls in dear with the identify the first time she sees it - she isn't quite prepared for the amount of work and learning she will demand to tackle to keep the orchard running. But she is a determined woman. Determined to keep the orchard running and make a habitation for herself.Jonathan Bryant was born and raised on Sweet Grove and would like null more than to have it dorsum in his family. Once he realizes that Elizabeth is in this for the long booty, he agrees to help her and teach her everything he knows about apples - which is quite a bit. Working and then closely together, it's no surprise that these two hard-working people begin to fall in love.
There is however some distrust lurking in the background and a near disaster at the orchard raise some hurdles they volition need to overcome. In that location is too the result of Elizabeth's missing sister, which lingers in the background throughout the story. Even though we larn the history forth with Jonathan, it seems a flake incomplete, as does much of Elizabeth's history. Information technology was glossed over in the beginning, and and then when she opens upwardly near it, it only doesn't have the emotional touch I thought information technology could have.
There is a religious aspect to the story, and while it was very present, it was just a part of the story and the characters - which is how religion should exist. This wasn't a "preachy" story in any fashion. I recall I'd really relish taking another trip back to Sweet Grove and seeing how this budding customs grows and flourishes.

It is a quick read and it is sweet. I liked the alternate POV's, Elizabeth's and Jonathan's. The conversations were mildly funny at times. TOO many questions left unansweredIt is a quick read and it is sweet. I liked the alternate POV's, Elizabeth'due south and Jonathan's. The conversations were mildly funny at times. Only I couldn't connect to the story nor to Jonathan nor to Elizabeth. The writer wasn't able to bring me into the story. Information technology was flat, wearisome even. Specially in the start, I didn't like Jonathan much. In the start, I did similar Elizabeth somewhat, though I never got to feel as if I actually got to KNOW her. But then she gets some weird idea in her head and immediately assumes it's true. That'due south a shame. It made me similar her less. And because you don't really become to know her (nor Jonathan) I found myself unable to bond with them. The whole story is defective depth. It all felt loose, like split elements that just didn't come together.
At the end, a LOT of questions are left unanswered and you're supposed to read 4 more books to get the complete picture. That would exist fine if information technology was only a few questions. An opening to the adjacent volume is fine, a lot of authors practise it. But there were merely TOO many questions yet. Really, one-half the story is missing! I guess this concept's just not for me. Although the concept's non new and I have enjoyed information technology in the past by other authors. So that would mean I just didn't like the execution of the concept. I won't exist reading any more of the books in this series. Pitiful to be so harsh, but I really didn't relish it, and so I take to be honest…
I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy of this volume.

Merged review:
There is a dark side to the story of Sugariness Grove. Initially farmed in the 1790s, despite being owned by Mexico and in Comanche territory, the orchard inverse hands twice thank you to drinking and gambling and profit-making before coming (dorsum) into the Bryant family through marriage. This is the first of five stories telling of the Bryant siblings in the early on to mid 19th century as Texas was changing from a part of Mexico to an independent nation to a state in the United States. Ms Murdoch provides some wry twists and eye-openers in her exploration of the early days of Texas settlement.
